Devices Management -> Devices Overview

Devices Overview

Summary

The Devices Overview page provides a centralized hub for monitoring and interacting with all your connected devices. Here, you can quickly see essential information about each device, such as its operating system, CPU, and memory, and navigate to various functionalities like system monitoring, application management, file browsing, and SSH access.

This page allows you to view the status of your devices, rename them, and access detailed management options through intuitive tiles. If a device is shared with you, a special banner will indicate its shared status.

Page Functionalities

Device Information Display

At the top of the page, you'll find key information about your connected device, including:

  • An icon representing the device's operating system (e.g., Apple for macOS, a penguin for Linux).
  • Details about the device's processor (number of CPUs, vendor, architecture).
  • The total amount of Random Access Memory (RAM) installed on the device (e.g., 8 GB, 512 MB).

Rename Device

Next to the device information, you will see an "Edit" icon (). Clicking this icon allows you to change the name of your device. A dialog will appear where you can enter a new, more descriptive name for your device. This helps you easily identify your devices, especially if you have multiple connected.

Shared Device Banner

If the device you are currently viewing has been shared with you by another user, a distinct blue banner will be displayed at the top of the page, clearly indicating its "Shared device" status. This helps differentiate between your own devices and those shared for collaborative use.

Functionality Tiles

Below the device information, you'll find a grid of interactive tiles, each representing a specific functionality or section for your device. Clicking on a tile will navigate you to that specific management or monitoring area:

  • System Monitor: View real-time performance data and health metrics of your device.
  • Applications: Manage installed applications, including installation, uninstallation, and updates.
  • Connect to Device: Options related to establishing or re-establishing a connection to your device.
  • File Browser: Explore the file system of your device, browse directories, and manage files.
  • SSH: Access the Secure Shell (SSH) terminal for command-line interaction with your device. This tile will show "SSH" in green if port 22 (SSH default port) is open, and in red if it is closed, indicating its availability for connection.

Possible errors which may occur on this page

Error Scenario 1: Device Details Not Loading / Redirection to Device List

Starting Point: You attempt to access the "Devices Overview" page, possibly through a direct link or after a session issue.

Occurring Error: Instead of seeing the device overview, you are immediately redirected back to the main device list page (/devices).

Why this error happens: This occurs if the system cannot find or load the necessary information for the specific device you were trying to view. This can happen if the device was recently removed, if there was a temporary connectivity issue, or if the device data was not correctly initialized in your session. The system redirects you to the main device list to prevent displaying an incomplete or erroneous page.

Resolution: Please ensure your device is properly connected and configured. Try selecting the device again from the main device list. If the issue persists, check your internet connection or contact support.
