The Network Admin: Reach Any Local Web UI From Anywhere

Router admin panels, switch dashboards, internal services — all in your browser, from home, without touching a single firewall rule.

Three Sites. No Remote Access. After-Hours Emergencies.

A network administrator manages infrastructure across three office locations. Each site has managed switches, NAS devices, and local monitoring dashboards — all with web-based admin interfaces that are only reachable on their respective local networks. When a switch needs reconfiguring at a remote site after hours, the options are: drive to the site, ask a non-technical person on-site to relay information, or set up a complex SSH tunnel manually each time.

Local Interfaces That Should Not Be Local

Every Site Visit Requires Physical Presence

Router admin panels and switch dashboards sit on local networks only. Any off-hours reconfiguration means either a site visit or guiding a non-technical contact through a task they cannot understand.

Manual SSH Tunnels Break on Restart

The manual SSH tunnel approach requires knowing the exact local IP and port every time, and breaks whenever the remote machine restarts — creating a fragile dependency that fails at the worst possible moment.

Every Admin Interface. One Dashboard. No VPN Gateway.

awaBerry's Zero-Trust Port Forwarding feature was designed for exactly this scenario. Any local port on a connected device — whether it is a web admin panel on port 80, a monitoring dashboard on port 3000, or a router interface on port 8080 — can be made accessible through a secure, encrypted tunnel activated from the awaBerry dashboard.

Step 1 — Deploy awaBerry on a Site Device

Any always-on machine at the remote site — a NAS, a small server, a Pi — runs the awaBerry agent. One device per site covers all local services on that network.

Step 2 — Activate a Zero-Trust Port Forwarding Tunnel

In the awaBerry dashboard, the admin activates a tunnel pointing to the local IP and port of the target service — for example, 192.168.1.1:80 for the router admin panel.

Step 3 — Open in Browser

The tunnel URL opens the router or switch interface directly in the browser, fully secured, from anywhere in the world — no SSH client, no VPN client.

Step 4 — Multiple Tunnels per Site

Separate tunnels can be configured for the switch, NAS, UPS management panel, and monitoring dashboard simultaneously — all named and one-click reachable.

Step 5 — No Disruption to the Local Network

Traffic flows through the awaBerry secure channel. No firewall rules are modified at the site. The local network continues operating exactly as before.

A Half-Day Site Visit Becomes a Two-Minute Browser Session.

Zero-Trust Port Forwarding access transforms every internal web interface into a securely reachable remote resource — without touching firewall rules or building per-site VPN infrastructure. For network administrators managing distributed sites, it turns a half-day site visit into a two-minute browser session.
